Gavin at 6 months

Gavin had his 6 month check up a few days ago. He now weighs 20lbs and 1oz and his 27.4 inches long. He is obviously big for his age, but we know as soon as he starts walking he will skinny out just like his brother. The doctor showed me Gavin's head chart and discussed how his head is just shooting up in size and not slowing down. So we went down to Primary Childrens for an ultra sound. I told the radiologist that Nathan had a large head as well and that we had to do the same for him. So he pulled up Nathan's ultrasound and said that Gavin's head was nearly identical to Nathan's ultrasound and as long as Gavin continues to develop normally, we have nothing to worry about. :)

Gavin is really enjoying baby food, we can't seem to shovel it in fast enough. He is rolling all over and starting to scoot around on his belly, it won't be long before he is in to everything- yikes!

Here are Gavin's 6 month pictures-enjoy!

B. an ugly heavy duty diaper bag

Stinky Feet & Lagoon

Saturday we went to the Stampin' Up! summer party at Lagoon. Nate had a wonderful time riding all the rides! We were lucky to have great weather and ended up being there for most of the day. What I learned at Lagoon was, apparently at my old age- spinning in circles and me do not mix like we used to.

A night of good conversation

As we were playing hungry hungry hippo..

Nate: "Mom hippos have really big mouths"
Me: "Yes they do, to fit lots of food"
Nate: " But my dad's mouth is bigger."

As we were watching an interview with Michael Phelps...

Nate: "Mom, is that all Michael Phelps does is swim?"
Me: "Yes"
Nate: " Well, my dad eats wings."

Memories...

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see what memories people leave about you. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

P.S. Many of you don't post often (you know who you are!) say hi every once and a while!

Life's a zoo.

First thing Saturday morning we headed out to the zoo for some good old fashion family time. Gavin immediately loved the zoo- he really seems to enjoy anything outside. Nathan was a bit bossy and made it quite clear what animals he wanted to see and in what order. Yikes!

Yum.

Gavin was incredibly mad when I took this away, but I couldn't let him eat the paper!

Big news- Gavin's first tooth broke in this morning. Woohoo! I feel like I have been waiting forever! I guess I thought that since Nate's first tooth broke through when he was 4 months old Gavin would be the same, but it looks like Gavin is going to take things a little slower. Fine with me, Nate did everything so fast!
After the zoo, my mom and dad were nice enough to watch the kids so Robby and I could go to see The Dark Knight. All I can say is YIKES! Although there was a lot of good parts, there was a large amount of time I spent with my legs up by my face, ears covered and head down. I think being a mom has made me a wimp. Oh well.

mmmm good

Lately Nate has been all about mixing strange foods together and I've just let him do it, I figure as long as he eats it, it's all good. So here are a few examples from tonight's dinner- First he started with peaches & pineapple with parmesan cheese. Then he moved on to mashed potatoes and parmesan cheese, and the last mixture consisted of peaches, pineapple, parmesan cheese and mashed potatoes. Before he every gets the bite in his mouth he goes "mmm good" because he can see me cringing in the corner of his eye and wants to prove me wrong. ( I wonder where he gets that attitude from?)

Today's lunch had to be one of the worst...we were having peanut butter and honey sandwiches and cheese and crackers. I looked over and there was Nate putting the cheddar cheese in with his peanut butter and honey. I thought I would do him a favor this time and warn him that it probably wont be good, but of course he insisted on trying it anyway... he takes a bite and does his "mmm good" and then goes..." Oh no, you are right mom- not good!" and spits it out.

I will always remember this day- it is the first time Nate has admitted I was right.
Here are some pictures of my big boy.....
